Although poetry and theater can’t exist without each other, Watsky has begun to explore how he can tell stories that exceed the boundaries of a three-minute piece.

Dante's Divine Comedy

In 2005 The Living Word Project collaborated with Ellen Sebastian-Chang and Marcus Sanders (partner of artist Sandow Birk) to put the Divine Comedy on stage through a modern perspective. Watsky co-wrote the script and played Dante in the original play Dante’s Divine Comedy which premiered at the 2005 Living Word festival at the Yerba Buena Theater in San Francisco and enjoyed a limited tour.
